Tens of thousands of elephants are killed every year for their ivory tusks.

Thousands of tusks get turned into trinkets all the time. All you may see is a beautiful piece of artwork but if you open your eyes you will find that it actually comes from a dead animal that has suffered enormously just to make that one piece of artwork. There is no way to obtain the tusks with out killing the elephant therefore poachers usually shoot the animal and then hack off the tusks with a machete or a chainsaw. In most cases the elephant does not actually die and so the poachers just leave it there to suffer from its wounds until it eventually dies.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP:

Try not to buy anything that is made of ivory and tell other people not to either.
